The time setting for the game is unclear, with the island described as being “frozen in time” due to its economic crisis. Castillo has turned it into a slave state and there is an attempt at revolution in progress, organised by different guerrilla groups with conflicting beliefs.
While heavily based on Cuba, Far Cry 6 is set on the fictional island of Yara. Ubisoft describes the country as its most ambitious open world to date, with the series’ classic tropical beaches and jungles mixed in beside Esperanza, its sprawling capital city. You play Dani Rojas, a guerrilla fighter trying to take down the presidency’s rule. It’s a character which can be played as either female or male.
